I'm still learning, you know.
At 80, I feel there is a lot I don't know.

the indomitable
LENA HORNE-
Don't be afraid to feel as angry or as loving as you can,
because when you feel nothing,
it's just death.
Malcolm X made me very strong at a time
I needed to understand what I was angry about.
He had peace in his heart.
He exerted a big influence on me.

ReplyDeleteA beautiful tribute... Love from London x
ReplyDeleteA very gracious tribute. Elegance at it's best.
ReplyDeleteMy Mother and I saw her live years ago and I shall never forget her, she sang from her inside out - deep and strong!

She was exquisite.
ReplyDeleteThere was only one LENA...but WE have one who is close to her talent and THAT beauty still with us, ALICIA KEYS.
ReplyDeleteShe would be the BEST to play the life story of Ms. Lena Horne!
I hope so...
Fabulous photos. May she rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteShe was such a lovely woman.....
ReplyDeleteThank you P.Gaye Tappm for this beautiful collection of photos. I always wanted to meet Lena Horne- to be in her presence. Ms. Horne was such a charming woman on the silver screen, but it was her humanitarian qualities which enabled her to sing from the heart - Lena often spoke about her love of singing before live audiences, in particular. I am grateful for the hundreds of recordings that Lena left for us, as we continue the journey. I will need them all; every single and magical note.
ReplyDeleteLaura, SO glad you enjoyed this post. pgt
