I must say, THIS is the best collection wrought from his hands...he found the solace and peace in this last expression of his Soul.
ReplyDeleteIt is clear, when reviewing his Art, his journey into the abyss led him to darkness and the light triumphed in the End.
As someone who has a Saint as a Great Great Aunt, who founded a Convent and Hospital, Canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2000, I feel he IS SINGING with the Angels...whatever that may be to each of our own vision of the Universe.
I for one, feel that HE was led to this final expression, to cloth a SPECIAL one. Who this may be is too be determined, perhaps that is a Fantasy wished for to justify the END.
Wow! What a post! This collection is absolutely breathtaking...and very evocative of the paintings you posted. Mcqueen certainly knows how to set a mood.
ReplyDeleteThe clothes are breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteSo very sad that he's gone.
Anon. I feel much like you do- This is heavenly.
ReplyDeleteTara & Pamela- yes it is quite amazing- 16 pieces, I can not image more, yet according to the articles it represents about half of what was planned prior to his death. I can understand the pressure he must have felt to go further into this-seems impossible to have produced beyond these.
ReplyDeleteI love the post-modern wimples. It has been a long time since the fashion world grabbed me.
ReplyDeleteJanet, yes, wimples! I do think these are transcending the world of fashion. Worthy of a Queen, Eleanor of Aquitaine maybe?
ReplyDeleteYour posting & his collection are simply the best, breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteWOW.
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING.
Those are the most inspirational gowns for any size and aged woman.
So sad he didn't feel his greatness and contribution to the world.
Cynthia

Oh my... I'm speechless. I had not seen these final designs. Your post wraps around his stunning pieces in such a majestic way. A lovely tribute. Incredible. Thank you! Best, Barbara
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine having a Saint in your family tree? A swan song for Mr. McQueen of the most celestial proportions.
