looking : fabrics

.

for a sofa-this the most perfect of styles. I like the classic styling with the upholstered small legs-nail head studded.

now for the fabrics. the perfect ones- I find are often on the runways. this is one of the reasons I still follow fashion & thank you vogue.com for your gorgeous up close photography that records the details-which is what it is all about. Sometime these cross overs don't work- and vice versa- No one wants to look like their sofa- or any sofa for that matter.

Here are some textiles that make me love doing what I do-

& for color:

all from Alberta Ferretti Fall 2011

  1. It is a fabulous sofa. But I must say that much of the charm comes from the choice of fabric; doesn't it compliment the sophisticated casualness in a way that a crisper, more contemporary fabric could not? I will keep an open mind however!

  2. DC You are right in the sense that the fabric- I love it too- check my link to the Sforza post, it is my ideal fabric! The first three here (though) I would not do the sequins, Are variations of the on a damask pattern & /or a gauffrage velvet. It is very much an open mind I am suggesting here. I find the textiles in clothing infinitely more exciting than the lines I see for upholstering chairs, sofas etc. I have to look beyond the expected-pgt

  3. Love the sofa as well - and the beautiful Sforza - I have a similar sofa - but covered with Lee Jofa's poor linen velvet step-child. But it is a workhorse - with children continually plopping themselves there, it has held up remarkably well. As for the fashions, I of course love the way you think and connect. I LOVE Alberta Ferretti and would be happy to just wear them - especially that last coat - what a color!!

  4. Q. I love that color, I agree happy just to wear them. The textiles visually are superior to my mind- to anything to the trade. I am always inspired by them. pgt

  5. The very top fabric is utterly gorgeous. When I worked in NYC I would walk through the fashion district at lunch time and visit a European fabric shop that was on its way out of business. I'm reminded of some of those fabrics via the beautiful, close-up images here. Merci!
