I watched early with girlfriends! It was calm and beautiful and quite collected! I loved the Westminster Abbey ceremony, the trees were lovely! I heard a commentator saying about her dress being 50's inspired, perhaps a sign of what kind of a wife she will be. I do hope she will as she promises to be and emancipated as much as she can get in this new and surely overwhelming setting. God luck and a long life together for the two of them!
I wasn't going to bother but found myself wide awake at 6 am and glad I tuned in. The dress was beautiful and so appropriate. This was the prettiest I have ever seen her.
She was lovely, I think like the bride's of the 50's in only the way she recognized place and appropriateness- as a part of her choice. The day of dresses with sleeves. it is hopefully a signal to a more covered bride rather than the pole dancer variety we get so much today.
As ever Gaye, the perfect juxtaposition of ideas. I love the way you've contextualised the big wedding. What incredible poise that young woman has. He too in fact. Very courtly!
Lovely contextual pairings as always!! I just adored her dress - thrilled she chose McQueen!! I think everything was just exquisite. I thought Barbara (my dog eared pages) summed it up perfectly on twitter - "Amazing Alexander McQueen, beautiful music, Abbey full of green + sea of wonderful hats. Just perfection! Cheers to the bride + groom!!"
Exquisite posting, the fifties reference I believe was to Grace Kelly's wedding dress. Both princesses' gowns have a timeless fairy tale quality much like those depicted in the illuminated manuscripts.
I thought Kate looked beautiful, I was expecting something more outrageous but it had understated McQueen trademarks and I think the dress was a triumph xx
I missed the ceremony.......only person in the world..maybe!
I adored the dress. The total triumph! Exquisite! I hope it will set the tone for the next hundred years! Elegant......hand made lace.......(that doesn't happen in many countries)
and the simplicity. Perfection......if you ask me!

Oh, she is just the perfect Princess Bride, breathtaking in Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen's design!
