  1. A beautiful allegory for the tragic loss of a child, the caged Innocent Soul, the Evil Cat and the representation of LOST HOPE! Rather this version than the one delivered to hang in the hallways of Americas psyche yesterday...Sandyhook!

Now the political fool steps out to say Prayer loss in schools is what is too blame, while at the same time...a teacher hid and saved 15 children in a class closet and PRAYED for their deliverance from Evil...NRA, Politicians afraid of losing their seats in Elections and the Hate That now divides our Nation...they combined are the Cat now peering at Americas Lost Innocence.

  2. I recall this hung half the year EACH YEAR, in Kitty Miller's apartment as her father left it equally to her and the Met...as years went by, the Met had that much harder a time getting it back to hang as her decor of the Drawing Room centered on this masterpiece!

  3. Oh, the photograph from Vogue is divine. Have never seen that before, thank you for posting it. I trust the little boy depicted was not as unlucky as the second Mrs. DeWinter... Reggie

  4. Gaye,

One of my favorite paintings. Don't you just love that outfit? And the cats....

I don't know how I missed your link back to me on your post on the Duchess last year. A belated thank you.

    Merry Christmas dear friend! Julieta

  5. Seeing this well-loved painting today, of all days, makes my heart hurt. The loss of so many children of about the same age as this beautiful little boy when he died. Thanks, Mary
