.
putting them to rest, the one and only Alfred Hitchcock.
subject of a new movie-Hitchcock and the recent The Girl. I've not seen either-not sure if I will-to follow reviews it would seem neither- shall alter one scream-one palpitation-one whisper of my devotion. I am a Hitchcockian(?) I don't have to love-like the man to recognize the genius.
Hitchcock was one.
I love his films.
In films murders are always very clean.
I show how difficult it is and what a messy thing it is to kill a man.-Hitchcock
One of my all time favorite movies-for many reasons is his REBECCA!,
other favorite Hitchcock movies include- The Lady Vanishes, Suspicion, Notorious, Spellbound, Rear Window, North by Northwest, To Catch a Thief, Vertigo and Marnie.

You know how much I LOVE Rebecca and I could watch To Catch a Thief every week and never tire of it! But they are all marvelous - tomorrow on my agenda is The Lady Vanishes - my sister is visiting and we pulled the DVD out today!
ReplyDeletesometimes I wish I had that sister! enjoy your time together. pgt
DeletePsycho! The shower scene at the beginning. I still close my eyes when I watch it. You wait for another moment like it, which doesn't come - a very canny thing on Hitchock's part. He has you in the palm of his hand from the get-go.
ReplyDeleteyes-I still can't watch that one! pgt
DeleteRebecca is my absolute favorite. I should re-watch some others, it's been a long time.
ReplyDeletea Hitchcock retrospective is always in order, Enjoy. pgt
DeleteRebecca and To catch a thief are my favorite movies of his. I adore the book Rebecca as well -it was my introduction to Hitchcock! I saw the "Hitchcock" movie and really loved it although Scarlet Johansen is NO Janet Leigh. You must see it!
ReplyDeleteI consider myself in excellent company Stefan-I have recognized you as a member of the Rebecca club since I started blogging. I will take that under advisement! happy christmas to you Gaye
DeleteMy favorite of all time is Rebecca also. Can't watch it enough. Loved the book too!
ReplyDeleteMary
Mary-I am certainly the same way-the remakes have never come near the Olivier-Fontaine pair and of course Hitchcock. Yes, the book is a must read for anyone that has seen the movie. pgt
DeleteI never realized how much I liked Hitchcock's films until I took notice that a lot of my top favorite movies were his. These four are my favorites of the favorites: Shadow of a Doubt, Strangers on a Train, Rear Window (Kelly: gorgeous!), and Dial M for Murder (Kelly, again, gorgeous! and Milland, slimey and utterly wicked). I'm wishing Turner Classic Movies would do a day-full of Hitch movies, and I'd get lost inside the flat screen. Great subject! pbb
ReplyDeletePBB the Dial M for Murder-is chilling- I agree and GK so believable. Her ability as an actor can be overshadowed by that great beauty-She was supreme in both areas.I am thinking about gathering up some of mine for a marathon. I am sure cable will run some Hitch right now since this movie is out. pgt
DeleteGaye, Rear Window and Dial M for Murder are two favorites...and North by Northwest...I never tire of watching Hitchcock's films.
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best in 2013!
xoxo
