"There is a lovely flower, pale mauve-blue, in every English garden, called Love-in-a-Mist, in itself a pretty name. As a child, I thought it was called Lavender Mist, even prettier..." Nicholas Haslam

wonderful pairing of words, images and quote!
ReplyDeleteLove in a Mist looks very much like another lovely blue flower, that of the herb Borage. I've read that planting Borage with vegetables will make the veggie plants grow better.
ReplyDeleteGayle, today is Edward Gorey's birthday! Please visit Collagitation to see my special post in his honor :)
Also called Nigella damascena, or Devil-in-the-bush. Some flowers have all the luck.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the juxtaposition of these 2 canvases, very much; they are just shockingly magnificent, every time one sees them. Now they interact excitingly profoundly, and if one had one's 'drothers,' they'd be tacked somewhere in the sidebar at length, for extended stimulation and study. Meanwhile, I count implicitly on you to take down their conversation, and publish it here from time to time.
ReplyDeleteLove or Lavender...it's a beautiful flower, and color!
