no Summer would be complete without a bit of sitting-be it rocker or not. While not moving as the rocker or swing- the chair of wicker seems to be well suited for a Summer Idyll.

but- this from a HA associate-"
That garden shot of Hardy Amies looks very like his garden in Oxfordshire. He was a client of mine back in the 80s and early 90s and had a very pretty rose garden of which he was most proud."

Oh, to have a place for those towering odes to summer wicker! xo J~
ReplyDeleteIsn't that Hardy Amies at John Fowler's country house? Look in the pavilion at the painted walls.
ReplyDeleteBlue- I thought so too-however the source- linked here- did not confirm and referenced the picture "his country house" which I have changed-because I think you are right-I did look about for more id but could not find any. pgt

The furniture is wonderful. I am also in love with the red dress!
ReplyDeleteWhether that pavilion is at Fowler's or Amies' I'd love to uproot it and drop it in my courtyard... then purchase those wicker chairs from 1stDibs... I could definitely use them here in Charleston... the heat is unbearable.
ReplyDeleteLooks just lush!
ReplyDeleteBlue, due to your comment I dug a little deeper and found a picture of the Fowler lattice pavilion. pgt
ReplyDelete& should have said I added it to the image descriptions at the end of the post!
ReplyDeleteThe wicker chair always conjures up lazy summer afternoons sitting on the wide verandahs of my childhood back in Australia.
ReplyDeleteoooh- there's something just wonderful about those well worn white wicker chairs.
ReplyDeleteI love a good Orkney straw chair too, don't you?
Straw, wicker... my favorite. I wish I had a place for them, too AND would love Jean's Patchett's dress. You can see so much wonderful antique wicker for sale near Bar Harbor, Maine.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could use real wicker outside, but here in New Orleans, the climate destroys it quickly. On Memorial Day it looks great; by July 4th it looks like it belongs in Violet Venable's garden.
ReplyDeletethere may be other-Fowler like pavilions after all-this from a HA client:

ReplyDeleteThere is something so inviting about nice wicker, it makes me go back in time in a sort of comforting way. The English do wicker so well!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
