the MARCing of a SKIRT

 .
"I wear a white shirt and plaid skirt every day,
 So
I'm not the best person to speak about menswear,"- Marc Jacobs

Men in skirts? Yeay or Nea? Who would you like to see showing some leg?

  2. Love guys in skirts.
The right guy in the right skirt ...
    my husband.

He was inspired on a recent trip
to Scotland. This is a giant leap for a rather traditional Brooks Brothers kind of guy and I'm pleased to say .. . . he does it well.

  3. Only if he's Scottish, my dear.
A Scotsman in a kilt is divine.
A regular Joe in a kilt? Not so much.

  7. As with women, depends on the legs. On Mark Jacobs, yea.

  8. I once knew a man (not about to say "from Nantucket") who wore sarongs. He was super beefy -- beer-drinking lumberjack, semi-survivalist type. He wore it well, and it was about the length of the one in the photo - just some calf showing.

For me, it works on a guy who is big and burly, but it would look off-kilter (i'm killing myself today) on a gent with a slighter build.

  9. townhouse-haha! you are killing me too. I tend to agree. Marc wear it well- I think it is because he owns it. He doesn't fuss with the accessories- He looks like a guy-the beard helps.

  13. It's a great look if one has the build and legs (Mark does) to pull it off.

You know, priests wear (long) skirts all the time, and no one gives it a second thought.

  14. I have some friends who wear "utili-kilts" and they can rock the look.

  15. I consider myself pretty progressive in the fashion dept. However, this, at this moment in time (there's no telling what I will think tomorrow, or even in an hour!!), I do not support. Why I find it so...not right...I have no clue. I DO sometimes wonder about men in heels though. It surely would be USEFUL, some could use the extra height! Lauren

  16. Yes, this look was around in the 1980's in club culture. It looked great then - it still looks great - even before wearing kilts became popular.
