  2. I'd like to blame it all on men, but then comes a Sara Palin. I fear what she might start.

  3. Cuba, 1961? Unpublished participations in coups d'état, assassinations, disappearances, strikebreakings, police action, repression training, arms mongering? We see many of the more visible boils here, the corruption is unblemished in its constancy. But the graphic is superb, the organisation is heroic, the posting is daunting.

  4. To match a 60s quote with the wonderful 60's poster: America is as violent as cherry pie. While I deplored the draft in Viet Nam, I now agree to only way to end this war is that everyone's child as has to go to war. Then, again mothers and the just will rise up and say "no more war."

  5. Sister Corita Kent...the ANDY WARHOL of Nuns. She, and a handful changed the World of Convents in the late 60's to early 70's. My Aunt was one of them, and WE grew up with Corita all around us in many ways both at Immaculate Heart and within the family.

You can only imagine the divisive nature of their actions Worldwide within the Catholic Church and the Shame for some families that had to be hurdled in order to fill a VOW to serve the community that each Woman took when they became Sisters of the Immaculate Heart.

Fast forward now...and they are the IMMACULATE HEART COMMUNITY, a non-denominational organization that runs several schools including the original one, a Retreat for All who wish to reflect on a better being in Montecito which was the Mother House - a 35 acre estate next door to the famed San Ysidro Ranch hotel and Battered Womens shelters in Los Angeles. Jewish, Muslim, Buddhists and Protestants and all have joined as they share a common belief.

Fitting that you should have chosen her ART, it is collected now by many within the Hollywood and Interior Design Worlds here on the West Coast, and Corita left many messages behind still relevant today!

  8. informative comments-I was sitting in the cool evening of the BlueRidgeMountains listening closely to my brother's conversation in the house with family reciting all the wars this country had involvement in and worse. I was astounded though I have a pretty good knowledge of its history-that litany stunned me. It reveals that Achilles heel we have and it will undo US in the end. We can not survive in peace. I should have seen it before.

  9. It's even sadder to see how many there have been in one list... xx
