  2. At this instant I am not in the bookstacking mode of library management, having just donated another wall to print storage. But as I observe the formidable Z, amidst her "things to recover here," I sense the genius of her acute eye, her tolerant but exacting memory for data. Oh, can we not all use such help?

  4. Verrierres! My first fabric...in my first house! To this day my favorite fabric EVER!

    (43 years in the business!!)

The blue fabric....."Verrierres" (they print the border upside-down. You have to have a good decorator to do it right!

Mario did it better than anyone ever could! EVER!!

In one of the very early "Kips Bay Showcase House"!!

There just has not ever been a better room! Hard for me to say after 43 years as a decorator......There is just not a better room. EVER. It will not be surpassed!

    EVER!! It just won't!!

It wins the prize of the century. I printed it out (when printers were mimeographs......purple.....and they smelled!!)

THIS ROOM REPRESENTS EVERYTHING THAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME....ALL THESE YEARS LATER!

  8. I spend so many hours at the shop that it would be wrong to leave an assistant home alone all day long, so I have to do without. But that's at home. Here in the shop, I keep a Victorian biscuit jar filled with dog treats on the corner of my desk, and every assistant in the neighborhood knows the sound of its glass lid coming off. Now all I need to do--thanks to your photos--is sew a bunch of discontinued memo samples together to make a throw so that said assistants can hang out and keep me company while their bosses hit the shops on the block that don't allow animals. Zetta is welcome any time.
