BEST from the BACK
& FACING OFF
Cate Blanchett, in Armani Prive & Emma Watson in Christian Dior -both pitch perfect. Regardless of a stylist-these two know themselves and what they can wear. Cate Blanchett rarely makes a misstep. Emma Watson in Dior is the essence of Youth and Chic. About 20 years separates these two-though I've no doubt Cate Blanchett could pull on the pants with ease and look spectacular!
Best from the BACK honorable mention-Taylor Swift's gown by Carolina Hererra- in a sea of backs- was reminiscent of a Charles James gown.
BEST with CHILD
Kerry Washington in what VOGUE UK calls pale green, custom made for her by Balenciaga. Rarely out of step, this beauty wears clothes effortlessly.
BEST PAIRED
Sheherazade Goldsmith wearing a Temperley London dress, and Alfonso Cuaron,in Spencer Hart. Elegant-and effortlessly turned out. (photograph Vogue UK)
BEST in STYLE
(would look good in a potato sack)
Cate Blanchett is ceding ground to Lupita Nyong’o who wore Ralph Lauren.
BEST in SUIT
Diane Keaton, a true ORIGINAL in the 21st century,
and the boys from Britain, Cumberbatch and Fassbender
,
Love those backs in red and black.
ReplyDeleteyes- CB always turns out looking divine-as someone wrote to me-its the cheekbones! also Fit, that so important.
DeleteYes and yes - love your picks. And so glad you included Taylor Swift who looked amazing I thought but no one has mentioned.
ReplyDeleteTS wears her clothes so well-maybe that's why, along with the fact that she makes every red carpet appearance it seems. She has innate style in her street clothes to be sure. pgt
DeleteAT LAST! Someone else who chose to give credit to Diane Keaton at the GG's! I agree with all of your fashion comments! Wonderful postings...I will be reading you again!

Am way too old for crushes, but C.B. makes my heart flutter.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting except for the latest version of gents, whom I'd have to grade permissively on a Pass/Fail basis. The Lauren could not have been better worn, apart from wasting the lady; and the Dior sweeps the field by being half right, with the lady, herself, triumphing flawlessly over the whole pretext. What is it about that house that seems sometimes to understand the magic of the ingenue, a vision here slightly overdone, but not to her detriment?
ReplyDeleteCate's gown is so dreamy and Lupita is as elegant as can be.
