Beau Coops x Romance Was Born

I'd like something in brocade like Boucher's Pompadour mule.

  1. Gaye, they are beautiful, but I'll have to stick with my flip flops. I called them thongs the other day and the grandkids didn't know what I was talking about. Perhaps in Paris, I might force myself to wear mules.

    1. Donna, I do love them, but no where to wear them- I love the boots best. Of course what draws me is the beautiful lampas brocade! Mostly I am in Ugg slippers year round! pgt

  2. Mde. Augury, We were at a ceremony to honor the service that two Catholic Nuns gave to a small Southern USA community. The dress of the younger women was fascinating, any where from suit and slacks, to a summer dress in black, and the shoes were different than the style chosen here in your article, but the fabric shoe smaller heel was worn as was a two to three inch heel in different leather.
In 1970 a designer created a shoe almost reminiscent of a boot (my shoe I purchased had fabric and a curved heel like a boot) this was worn with a skirt length to the ankle.
The designs presented in the photos above remind me of different periods in costume or historical dress-in a painting at an art museum, an exhibit, an Internet Blog "COSTUME VAULT, OR FILM FROLIC," and in my volumes of costume study. Thanks!
Also, my relative is back from the MIDDLE EAST AND ASIA and her study of the fashion of each Country she lived in is like a breath of fresh air, since American Fashion designers sometime appear dried and boring. Trunk Shows reveal the variety of fashion designers that are competing with the American designers.

    1. Doesn't everything remind us of something historical? Yes, I adore textiles and the brocades drew me immediately to these designs. There is also a fantastic pair of suede boots with a ruffle on the side. PGT

  3. Mde. Augury, My sister is now looking to select a new home in the future while she is in the USA for a few months. Her design concepts are to me elegant and well studied/researched. Reminds me of her other homes which were beautiful and belies a passion she had as a young girl in our grandmother's home. In this home were antiques from 1800 New York (upper New York State) and from Boston. The sitting room, so comfortable for storytelling and friends of my grandfather talking of WWI or the tour with Teddy Roosevelt. The living room for the family gathering or watching the new television of 1950. The dining room so wonderful with large table setting for 6 or more. What a memory to design a number of beautiful homes after 1973, when quiet longing and intention for room interiors to meet the needs of her husband and child.
One misses the conversations that were brought together in the homes of the past? Today, the Internet provides talk written down for some who are lucky to admire the acquisition of talent in home and interior design. atk

    1. Sounds much like my mother's home (she is 87) when she was growing up in the South-a large family, and now the wonderful stories. I do agree, so much of my contacts stem from the blog, and social media. Thanks for reading, and for the lovely comments. PGT

  4. Lovely shoes. Not so sure about the clunky heel shape, however. The tapered Louis heel would have been better.

    1. I do think the heel gives it a modern look.

    2. The mules would look marvelous for a dinner party with a long skirt, maxi, or loose pajama-like pant. So glad to see silk shoes being revived.
