Diptyque in the Pink with Liberty

Combining the likes of Diptyque and Liberty of London is inspired. I prefer Diptyque to most any scented candle out there.

Roses
- in its own rose colored container- is available in a limited edition-that's inspired by Liberty fabrics, a rosebud fabric motif on a black ground decorates the box. Inspired by the fabric House, the candle and box pay tribute to the Diptyque founders who originally designed textiles for the historic Liberty of London. ROSES is made with several different species of Roses, but to me it maintains its single note fragrance-which makes it pleasing to a WOODY fragrance girl like me.

ROSES
- available at aedes de venustas

Liberty's new flagship store on Sloane St., London. 1960's-style chandeliers hang from flowered ceiling and client dressing areas recall the Orient Express- train seats, velvet curtains.

Pink roses are for love hopeful and expectant.

My favorite Diptyque scents are in their WOODY classification. The best are Bois Cire, Feu de Bois, and Chene.

Bois Cire- a complex scent of resin and frankincense, described as- and truly so- "reminiscent of antique stores, old family furniture and church pews." A beautiful old wood shelved Library.

Feu de Bois- the aroma of smokey Firewood

Chene- the aroma of Oakwood.

Diptyque made a limited edition available in the fall of 2008. The candle pays homage to the BASILE fabric- designed in 1963, by Christiane Montadre-one of the three original founders of Diptyque. As you can guess- all three evolved from artistic and interior decoration backgrounds from the Ecole des Beaux Arts. The
intricate geometric motif with broken and undulating lines is both simple and complex.

Take a look at the following images from the VIKTOR AND ROLF Spring Fashion show and see- BASILE.

Fairey's image being installed in the National Portrait Gallery

Shepard Fairey's, "Barack Obama," a mixed media collage will be on view at the National Portrait Gallery by Inauguration Day. Fairey's large-scale, mixed-media stenciled collage was the central portrait image for the Obama campaign. (AP Photo/National Portrait Gallery, Barack Obama by Shepard Fairey , Shepard Fairey/ObeyGiant.com) Fortunately, I got one of these through the campaign during the North Carolina primary!

Enjoy these images and enjoy the Inaugural of President Barack Obama. As Rod Stewart says "Every Picture tells a Story don't it."
