  1. What a stunning looking lady, is it just me or does she not bear a strong resemblance to Vivien Leigh?

  2. I think that has been noted before! She was an exotic beauty to be sure. Interesting to how the Shah "digressed" in his seeking of royal blood lines. there was and HBO special about his last wife I linked in the text-still very much the Queen.

  3. I love the Beaton image, but the most BEAUTIFUL was with her little pookie love...looked like Dita Von Teese quickly, that is until I scrolled. Soraya was truly beautiful as well...very Ava Gardner.
I remember meeting their psychic that was part of the refugee contingency that included hairdresser etc...what a beautiful green-eyed beauty with the gift of Sight of the Third Eye!

  4. Thank you for post these beautiful pictures of Fawzia--who is almost forgotten because of Soraya's own story. I clearly remember my mother telling me the story of Soraya when I was a little girl. Of course, I didn't know anything else about Iran, but it all seemed romantic and tragic. Fawzia looks the most European of all three of the wives of the Shah.

  5. She was incredibly beautiful, as all of the Shah's wives were. Soraya was so beautiful too.
How interesting it is to see how modern and chic these women were compared to how the current leader of Iran's wife looks now.

  6. The reason the Shah divorced Fowzia was because they thought she couldn't bear any male heirs. I guess at that time they didn't know about the role sperm played in determining the sex of the child. She was certainly a beauty, but I also think it was to her benefit that the Shah divorced her. The Shah's twin sister was a jealous control freak who ordered the hysterectomy of his second wife (Soraya) when she went to the hospital for a routine surgery.

Also, Belle, in response to you. Iran's leaders are a bunch of lice ridden sociopaths and their wives are a close match, but if things were different, their wives would also be chic and beautiful.

  9. there is a deep well of stories in all these women. I will consider doing more posts on them, however I am ill equipped in that I don't know as much as I should. I wonder if anyone amongst you would consider a guest post on one or any of them. I am doing some research in other areas right now and don't think I can do it justice. Let me know. pgt

  10. A beautiful woman and flattering photography, which judging from your other readers' comments belies the violence of her environment. I too would look forward to hearing more about her.
