Years ago, I was invited to see a spectacular home in the Trousdale Estates of Beverly Hills. One entered thru a double door painted in THAT Coral color WE all so love. A magnificent one story mid-century with an interior glass enclosed Koi pond that all rooms viewed. A Gainsborough hanging over a gilt and white painted German rococo double drawer commode, a Gobelin tapestry, coromandels here and there...but above the dining table...Babe's Chandelier from her little Billy Baldwin tented room...YOU know the one, with the figure straddling a round clock.
Just a little note...the owner was close to John Elgin Woolf, Billy Baldwin and countless others in the decorative arts world, and the Gainsborough was sold to help fund the Hintington Gardens brand new Chinese Gardens and Lakes now open and stunning!
I love the way you research and put your heart and point of view into your posts.I've added you to my list and hope to visit again soon!

DeleteHuntington Gardens and library...this iPad! LOVE IT but HELP!
ReplyDeleteThere is no comparison between her and the model. I can't find anymore the supreme simple elegance of beautiful ladies of the past. Nostalgia? Yes!
ReplyDeleteNo the model less so-but the clothes Zac Posen designed do, I can not help but see the same poses and gestures in their styling.
DeleteThey just don't make em like Babe anymore. Such class!
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
