  2. My friend, I could not conceivably "like" you on Facebook - probably the most hideous contradiction in human communication since Judas' kiss of our Lord - even if it were to serve endless coffee, and profiterole at 3. To me it is a manifestly degraded environment, not that your minority presence might not all but redeem it. I lack the courage to investigate. Besides, I reckon you can always use a Luddite in your palette. Laurent

    2. I am sorry to say, but I agree with Laurent. Facebook seems to bring out the perennial 13 year old at her worst in us, not that there aren't honorable exceptions. I'm there due to the Norwegian Guinea Pig Club. It is an attempt to take the best possible care of my pets and be a possible rescue home for guinea pigs in need. But Facebook is also one of the few web pages that has had contents that has made me cry. Facebook is a "pressure cooker". So sorry, I will not look you up Facebook, but I will continue to enjoy your well tempered page here immensely - as I always do.

    3. I am glad you are present for the guinea pigs. Isn't it really Who not What that makes the difference in any arena. I have gotten several private emails already from readers who have been readers of la since inception but do not comment- perhaps it relaxes the rules-I like that, and isn't the needle-or a paper of them what we are all looking for in that haystack?

    4. It is Who and the needle in the haystack is delightful when found.

  3. Gaye, I have liked you on Facebook, though I spend little time there. Blogging is so much more satisfying!
