  1. Gaye, apropos for me as my boy Birdie the parrot died that morning unexpectedly. I swear I am never going to get another animal again. My heart has been broken too many times.

    1. oh Donna, I am sorry-that is heartbreaking, the relationships we have with our pets can bouy us and sustain us and cut us to the quick. I know how you feel-I can't fault you for swearing off that love-but for me it is the one that has lasted longest and been most faithful. pgt

  3. PGT, you seem to be going through a green moment. Perhaps, if you have not already - you would like to listen to Ken Nordine's word-jazz "Green". It is one of my favorite creative concepts - combining colors with emotion and sound... from the '60s I think.

How sad about the parrot. The space that even a tiny thing we love fills in our hearts is often bigger than words can describe. How can it be so? I felt the same with the loss of my beloved Boston Terrier and it was like a bit of shine was gone. Little occasions began to bring back the brightness... I would see a little Boston running and smiling in someone else's yard, or find a photo of my own goofy little troll... then there was even a commercial of a funny little dog running in tennis shoes. All those things were helpful in erasing the sadness.

    1. yes-green is the color of the moment-perhaps anticipating March? Spring, Saint Pat's and of course Malachite-not to mention emerald... We are all susceptible to Loss-the loss of a pet-deed I know-is painful-yet their natural state is one of such Joy-that when they are ready to move on to their next Life-it is Time to let them go and a real gift to give them that next chapter-at least this is my philosophy. It gives me the courage to take on at least one more-I would be lost without the presence of a pet in my Life. pgt
