of note BHL

.

worth reading and always - the Wall Street Journal on line here

Fashion communicates a relationship to the world, to one's body. What is the reply to the old philosophical inquiry between soul and body: Are they at war? Are they in harmony? Are they friends or enemies? There are moments in life, in the day, where the two are at war, moments where they are in harmony, days when you feel at war with your body, and days your body is your friend. Fashion says that. Style says that.  Edited from Katie Roiphe's interview with Lévy

  1. Interesting comments of FASHION from a man linked to Daphne Guinness.

WSJ comment on the Carlyle is odd...that he is used to fine furnishings, but when traveling all he needs are his pens and shirts. Is that a comment on the state of the furniture of the Carlyle?

    Wondering aloud...

  2. So now that BHL's been dating my girl Daphne Guinness, he's philosophizing about fashion now, too? How funny is that?!

  3. I was intrigued by the paragraph starting with Freud saying humanity is linked by hatred. BHL doesn't believe in peace and love! Does he mean he does not believe they will prevail? I think so.

  4. His ideas I think are intentionally abstract for the very reasons all the comments here. what does he think about that furniture? about a DG? about peace and love? I just find him terribly attractive! recently in an article HBazaar? describes him as the love of her life. very civil it all is.

  6. Actually it is not as civil as you think. Just saying. He & Daphne have behaved very badly indeed. Also, I'm way over BHL. I went to university in France & so I'm not taken in by his nonsense any longer. If he would just shut up & look handsome, maybe. Otherwise. Blech. So over him. As are all my French girlfriends. Cheers.

  7. I quite like him in fact any person who deals in thoughts and ideas not things and people is preferable to me - having said that he is hard to read in the manner of most European intellectuals and I just could not finish his book on Daniel Pearl it was just too upsetting. Xo

  8. Fay, delighted with the lavender and the rabbits!

Giulia- thanks for stopping in, will start following along with you. Yes I agree, It doesn't seem so civil from the publicity I have seen which isn't a great deal.My comment was tongue and cheek- however I think marriage is an overrated contract. Just as the interview heads us- you either do or don't, he doesn't seem to mind, but yes lovely to look at.
